My Training Philosophy: Exercise is Medicine.
No matter the age, your capabilities, or your background, everyone can benefit from exercise. With the rise of social media, it is often easy to compare yourself to others and how they may look. I believe that exercise is less about aesthetics and more about overall health and longevity. Fitness is not a “one size fits all,” so don't put yourself in a box! With my clinical background, I worked with older populations and unique health histories. Through my clinical training, I believe exercise is the first prescription in your journey to better health.
My journey into fitness started during my undergraduate degree. I majored in Exercise Physiology on the pre-medical track. My senior year I had the opportunity to work in a clinical gym setting where I was able to work with a variety of patient populations. I continued to pursue this passion through my Master's Degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology and completed over 450 hours of clinical internship and graduated top of my class in my Master's Degree. I received the Rural Health Scholarship, Outstanding Master of Science Award, and Abstract of Distinction Award. I am a published first author and co-author in the American Physiology Society Journal.
I love to cook and try new restaurants as often as I can. I love spending quality time with my partner and friends (or cuddling up at home to read a new fiction novel).
Fun Fact: In college I participated in Global Medical and Dental Brigades in Panama and Honduras. I have also volunteered overseas for humanitarian work in Ecuador, and twice in the Philippines.
